Laos is a country where
visitors can really escape from the stress of modern life
and step into the tranquility of a world dominated by
Buddhism. One of the highlights of Laos is the former
royal capital of Luang Prabang in the northern mountains.
Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, there is
little traffic on the streets and monks in saffron robes
carrying black umbrellas to shade themselves are a
familiar sight. The following trek options provide the
opportunity to discover charming temples, friendly
minority tribes and fertile valleys. The only difficulty
will be choosing which route!
Day 1: Luang Prabang - Muang Ngoi (old Muang Ngoi)
This morning, we kick off our trip with a drive to Nong
Kiew, followed by local boat to Muang Ngoi where we will
stay overnight.
Day 2: Muang Ngoi - Ethnic group villages
After breakfast we begin our trek to Ban Kioukhan, approx
4-5 hours on foot and 1200m above sea level. Enjoy a
picnic lunch along the scenic path before arriving in Ban
Kioukhan where we spend the night in a traditional
homestay.
