This 3-day
trip offers a glimpse into the agrarian life of the
vibrant southern Delta region as we wind our way through
the tributaries of the Mekong Delta. From our boats, we
are able to closely observe the daily rituals of river
life and participate in the bustling commercial activities
as we buy our fruits from the floating market. Along the
way, we will visit an orchard farm, handicraft village,
and a land market with an abundance of colorful fresh
fruits and vegetables.
Day 1: Ho
Chi Minh City - Vinh Long ( L,D)
This morning we set off for a drive through the Mekong
Delta to the town of Cai Be, well-known for it's floating
market. Here we will board our private boat for a cruise
along the maze of waterways and canals to Vinh Long. We
will stop at the home of a Bonsai gardener for a sumptuous
Delta lunch, including the popular dish of 'Elephant ear
fish', before continuing our exploration of the
tributaries and canals of the delta. Towards the end of
the day we arrive at the home of a local family whose
house is built on stilts over the water. These people will
be our hosts for this evening and will tell us more about
life in the Delta. Overnight in homestay in Vinh Long
Day 2:
Vinhlong - Can Tho (B,L)
Rising early to the sounds of the Delta coming to life for
another day, we breakfast before boarding our riverboats
once more for a cruise to Vinh Long town, stopping along
the way to visit some local cottage industries. Following
this we will
continue onto
Cantho where we stay the night. Tonight we will stay at
hotel in Can Tho.
Day 3:
Cantho - Ho Chi Minh City (B)
Our tour
starts with a boat trip on sparking streams along the
endless waterway of Mighty Mekong River to Cairang
floating market. There will be hundreds of boats loaded
with fruits, vegetables and fish jostling for trade.
Sellers advertisers their wares by crying out across the
waters. We visit the lush orchards of Cantho before our
drive journey to Phung Hiep bridge, right at the
intersection of seven tributaries. Afternoon drive to Ho
Chi Minh city
